Short Hiatus
I'll be on a short hiatus due to finals, Bon Odori and Penang trip posts would be delayed til then :(
UtaPri!!☆
Recently I've finished watching Uta no Prince-sama : Maij Love 1000%
I cannot deny the fact that I started watching this anime because of Reika-san's cosplay of Jinguji Ren, Ichinose Tokiya and Shinomiya Natsuki.
Originally an Otome game, I find it pretty decent being adapted to an anime. (I mean there's a second season coming soon so even others love it right? (^_−)☆)
Of course I do have my complaints about the anime. I've never played the games yet myself so I am unable to determine how well they've done adapting it.
I wished they explored a little more into the relationship between the male characters as a group and also individually (I know, otome game, they'll focus on the guy's relationship with the main girl but this is just wishful thinking). Like Ren and Masato's relationship, we only got a glimpse of it in the anime. Or Natsuki's split personality. Ottoya's character seems slightly weaker compared to the rest of the male cast, I could say the weakest? He's quite forgettable compared to the rest. I did enjoy how a lot of the storyline was focused on Tokiya (since I'm a fan) but it feels like they've forgotten about the rest of the characters. It's a little too much to ask for a 13-episode series anyway.
At the final episode, there were a few characters that were sitting with the headmaster, SHINING SAOTOME that caught my attention. I'm pretty sure they'll show up in the next season of the anime. If not, then I'm highly disappointed. I'm guessing they are rivals for ST☆RISH since they've made their debut at the final episode.
I'm basically just ranting/stating my thoughts about it after finished watching it. Mostly just about character development, as I'm the type that likes to know more about the characters.
Overall it's a pretty good anime based on an Otome game. Can't wait for more!

Female Crushes::Fictional Edition
My list returns! This time it's back to girls again, but they are fictional. My list could consist of video game characters, anime or manga characters. I'll try to maintain the list to 25 as usual. LOL.
The top 10 are in order. Names are clickable as usual.
- Lightning :: Final Fantasy XIII/Final Fantasy XIII-2. She's kickass amazing. I'm sure some of you know I'm a total Lightning fangirl. So it's not weird to see her on the top of my list.
- Saber :: Fate series. It was hard to decide who to put as the second. More specifically Fate/Zero's Saber. Not that I don't like her in Fate/Stay Night, it's just how the writers wrote it and made Saber less attractive for me.
- Galatea :: Claymore. I've been a ogling over Galatea the first time she appeared in the manga. Of course her in anime was amazing too.
- Jill Valentine :: Resident Evil series. The picture is linked to Jill in RE5. Tough and sexy *fans self*
- Hrist :: Valkyrie Profile
- Satou Sei :: Maria-sama Ga Miteru
- Lara Croft :: Tomb Raider
- Manuela Hidalgo :: Resident Evil
- Nina Williams :: Tekken/Death By Degrees
- Kan'u Unchou :: Ikkitousen
- Kurosawa Rei :: Fatal Frame 3
- Paine :: Final Fantasy X-2
- Kokoro :: Dead Or Alive 4
- Ice :: Cy Girls
- Morishima Haruka :: Amagami SS
- Fujino Shizuru/Shizuru Viola :: Mai HiME/Mai Otome
- C.C :: Code Geass
- Alphard :: Canaan
- Isayama Yomi :: Ga Rei Zero
- Orimura Chifuyu :: IS Infinite Stratos
- Grace Bernelli :: Granado Espada
- Panty & Stocking :: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
- Caterina Sforza :: Trinity Blood
- Gascogne Rheingau :: Vandread
- Lulu:: Final Fantasy X
Spring 2012 Anime!
Here is a list of the animes I picked up for Spring 2012 (which most have ended already). I'll post up a Summer 2012 list when I've watched more episodes as one episode isn't enough to decide how it is.
In this post, I'll just write short thoughts about each of them.
- Hyouka :: I actually dropped the anime after one episode. But my friend Balance said that it was a series that he enjoyed watching, especially with classical music involved, I gave it another go. Due to the lack of time I've only watched 6 episodes so far but I did like it. I'd recommend it for people that likes mysteries and working your brain out ahaha.
- Tasogare Otome x Amnesia :: This series was actually disappointing for me. I finished it just because I've already watched about 9 episodes and there was only 12. It started off pretty well but after some episodes, it got really boring for me. Episode 10 though was probably more interesting compared to the rest. I wouldn't recommend this anime unless you're into supernatural/mystery animes.
- Aquarion EVOL :: I dub this the cheesiest anime of the season! Cheesy good though. I actually enjoyed it (ha). Though I have to admit I didn't like the 2 main girls in this anime, they annoy me. But the rest of the cast were alright, it's amusing and it has mecha in it! (Mecha always a plus in my book). A little spoiler, just to tell you how cheesy it is... The machine (also known as Aquarion) was called Aquarion EVOL, where it involved the main character having a union with the another female and a male. In its final form it became Aquarion LOVE (opposite spelling of EVOL) LOL. It is THAT cheesy. I'd recommend watching this anime.
- Haiyore! Nyaruko-san :: Not sure why I finished this anime, I didn't like it either. Aliens, fan service, harem, generic. That's pretty much it.
- ZETMAN :: ZETMAN is a pretty good anime in my opinion. It's one that's more on the serious side. I like how 'justice' played quite a big role in the storyline, how one percepts it. The two 'heroes' that has different views on what justice is. I'd recommend this.
- Jormungand :: I never thought I'd pick this anime up when it was first announced. But I'm really glad I did. One of the animes that surprised me! It was a perfect mix of comedy, action, and even political issues involved. The story revolves around a group of arms dealer. Koko, their leader is a genius/dragon? (If you watched it then you'll know why she's a dragon haha). You won't regret watching this anime!
- Medaka Box :: Just for kicks I watched this too. If you like over-the-top, fan service, boobie animes then do watch this.
- Sakamichi no Apollon :: This is another anime that surprised me! It looked like a slow-paced slice of life anime. But I have to say this is really good. It involves jazz music, love, friendship, hardships. - Mostly friendship. I have no words to describe it any further. Just watch it! You won't regret it~
- Tsuritama :: Now this is an anime i didn't expect to pick up. Aliens, fishing, crazy aliens. Ahaha. I have to say it was pretty decent though some parts moved too slow for me.
- Acchi Kocchi :: This is a good anime to pass time. (Comedy/Slice of life) If you liked Lucky Star, Nichijou, then you'll probably like this. It's pretty far-fetched but that makes it hilarious :3
- Sankarea :: This one was really disappointing that I dropped it after 7 episodes. I love zombies but I guess in animes, it's boring.
- Natsuiro Kiseki :: I've had my issues with the animation quality, it's also one of the animes I thought I would drop but I managed to finish it and it was still pretty interesting. Four girls being able to make wishes to a big rock? A summer that never ends? This is still pretty enjoyable if you've run out of animes to watch haha.
- Shining Hearts :: I didn't know whether to list this anime out, since I dropped it after only ONE episode. Maybe I put my hopes too high for this and it disappointed me after just one episode. (゜´Д`゜)
- Accel World :: So far only 13 episodes has been released (24 in total) but it's a really good anime. I don't like the main guy in the series but overall, it is a good anime. Virtual reality world, battles, ugh, me love.
- Fate/Zero (season 2) :: I should have posted about Fate/Zero long ago on my blog when it first came out. Since I've been raving about it IRL and online to my friends. (〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ It was a god-tier anime. The music OST, animation quality, storyline, script, everything was amazing. This is a MUST WATCH.
Wow I actually picked up quite a number of animes... But those were my short thoughts~
PS. Do pick up Fate/Zero. You must watch it.

Painted Skin 畫皮
Last week I went to watch Painted Skin The Resurrection (otherwise known as Painted Skin 2) but the movie has pretty much nothing to do with the first movie.
This post isn't exactly a review? I guess it's just to say what I felt about the movie.
The first movie's poster and the second.
I waited until I watched the first movie before writing this post so I could actually do a little comparison. The second was definitely superior compared to the first.
The first and second movie retained 3 main casts (the same roles too) but better written.
For the first movie, I felt it was tad boring. Generic storyline too. You can read the plot on
Wikipedia. Anyway, I thought Zhao Wei's role as
Peirong was very weak in this movie. I didn't quiet understand why she succumbed so easily to
Xiaowei and even backed down and offered her
Wang Sheng. Calls herself a demon and wants everyone to kill her? I really didn't get it.
The only twist was that Xiaowei understood that Wang Sheng could never love her the way he loved Peirong. She eventually gave up and saved everyone. Which you don't see that much with demons involved now eh?
The only relation of the first and second movie was that Xiaowei was trapped for 500 years because she broke the rules of the demon world and helped humans, where in the first movie she used her own life to save the people that were killed in the cave.
In this second movie, Zhao Wei took the role of Princess Jing. Not just any normal stay at home and be pretty princess, but a kickass princess clad in armor. Zhou Xun retains her role of Xiaowei in this movie and Chen Kun as Huo Xin.
I couldn't say the storyline was stronger in a sense but the scenes were definitely better written that managed to show how talented the actors were in it. I was definitely impressed by Zhao Wei and Zhou Xun's role in the movie. Even though Zhou Xun as Xiaowei is basically the same as the first movie, she was very much more attractive/seductive here. She gave me awesome goosebumps. Other than that, I like how the movie sort of focused on the link between Princess Jing and Xiaowei while maintaining the love storyline of the Princess and Huo Xin. I have to praise Zhao Wei's acting when she(Princess Jing) 'switched skins' with Xiaowei as the demon. From the fiery princess she became a cold, seductive fox demon in the princess' skin.
Both movies had pretty good endings :] I'd definitely recommend watching the second one.

Youtube Discoveries
I love it when friends link me to amazing videos/songs on YouTube. In this case, I'd have to thank
Balance for showing me this amazing piano cover of Kalafina's Seventh Heaven.
The youtube account is called
SirOkihs
Please go to the channel and check out the awesomeness. The person even covered two of my favorite songs by Kalafina.
And the emotion, arrangement, everything! Technique-wise and even emotionally this person has got it covered.

World Cosplay Summit Malaysia 2012
Alrighty, I missed ACM (Asia Cosplay Meet) yesterday but I attended WCS (World Cosplay Summit) today. The crowd was pretty decent not too big but still quite a lot showed up.
The event started at 1pm, but at that time I was still changing and putting on makeup. Thankfully we have our dear servant Ryanne taking the camera around to take pictures as Weiss and I were too busy to take any ourselves. So the photos courtesy of Ryanne and Weiss' camera!
At 2pm, the performances started. I'm sorry but I can't tell what anime the first skit is from. The other groups included Fate/Prototype, Crisis Core - Genesis and Sephiroth's fight scene, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Metal Gear Rising- Raiden and Rex and finally Harvest Moon.
The Fate/Prototype group did pretty well. Their fight scene choreography was pretty well planned out. Though the part where the backdrop fell, they managed to 'cover up'... decently? haha.
As for the Crisis Core skit, it was pretty sad due to their props problem. Probably a lot of marks were deducted from there, sword broke in half pretty early, the 'Jenova'? I think couldn't move as they wanted it to. I have to mention, the Sephiroth is soooooo tiny hahaha. ChibiSephy.
There was a short break after the three performances. Went to get some drinks at Chatime, of course it's usually interesting when people stare at you when you're walking around. haha. Takes a little to get used to but I guess it's not the first time.
Final Fantasy XIII-2, hmm the overall was so-so. One of the more epic scenes was when Lightning actually climbed up to a mini stage there (part of their prop) and jumped down to attack from high. Exciting stuff!
Metal Gear Rising, or now known as Revengeance was alright. Just a fight scene of Raiden with Rex and trying to reveal Rex's identity, which had a slight comedic approach to it. Made the audience laugh so that's always a plus.
Last but not least, the Harvest Moon group. The crowd loved them, one of the reasons was probably because everyone knew about this classic game and played it. The whole theme they were going for in their skit were comedic. I think they were the crowd favorite.
The winners of this year's WCS was the Metal Gear Rising group with Raiden and Rex so the will be attending WCS in Nagoya! Congrats to them. Personally, I would have picked the Final Fantasy XIII-2 group or the Fate/Prototype group, but I guess the judges liked Raiden better.
Later on there was a small competition for the cosplayers that attended. So many Vocaloids, which I think are overrated. I really liked the Lamento cosplay but she didn't win, that's just sad. Or they're blind!
That's pretty much how the event went. Sorry I'm such a lazy blogger that I don't want to arrange the pictures associated with the paragraph I'm writing. But the photos are in order of the day.
Photos above are the ones before the performances started...
Ps. I'm in the maid outfit if you don't know. lol
Three of the performances before the break.
During the break, only 2 pictures lol.
Continuation of the performances and also the cosplay competition.
The rest of the time just walking around and taking pictures with/of cosplayers.
That's all for my WCS report (if it counts as a report? LOL)
